The Day AXL Got Its First Director
AXL Creative Co. existed for years without a Director. Pastor Jasmine Weiler carried it as founder and visionary, the way she'd carried it since a meeting at a Panera Bread turned a prophetic word into an actual organization. That changed on the closing night of the July 2026 Creative's Intensive, when she stood in front of the room and installed Angela Kane into a role that, until that moment, didn't exist.
How it started
The story goes back further than AXL itself. Jasmine and Angela met by accident — Jasmine was at an event, Angela was sitting on a step with a guitar case, waiting on an Uber. Jasmine walked up and asked if she sang. Angela said yes. Jasmine asked her to sing something, right there. Then the Uber came, and the only thing left to do was exchange Instagram handles and stay in touch.
That's it. That's the whole beginning. No formal introduction, no plan.
Years of building before the title existed
What followed wasn't a straight line to a job offer — it was years of the two of them building AXL together in whatever way needed building at the time. Somewhere in that stretch, Jasmine started noticing something: every time she and Angela sat down to talk, Angela didn't run out of things to say about AXL's vision. Not tasks. Not logistics. Vision — heart-level detail on what this thing could actually become. Jasmine has said it started to feel obvious that this was a person who was eventually going to steward the whole thing, long before there was a structure in place for that to mean anything official.
So she prayed about it. For years. Asking who was supposed to come in and get into the actual weight of leading AXL through its next season. The answer she kept landing on was the same person she'd been building alongside the whole time.
The commissioning
On the last night of the 2026 Intensive, after a full weekend that closed with a teaching on stepping into greater responsibility, Jasmine called Angela up in front of the room. She told the guitar-case story. She said this moment wasn't just a commissioning for everyone else in the room — it was one for Angela too. And then she said it plainly: AXL has never had a director. Now it does.
The prayer that followed asked for exactly what the job would actually require — eyes to see not just where AXL is now but where it's headed, ears to hear what's coming before it arrives, discernment for the seasons ahead. Not a ceremonial blessing. A specific one, for a specific weight.
Angela was handed flowers and a gift card to Panera — a callback to the meetings where all of this started getting worked out over sandwiches, long before either of them called it a title.
What changes, and what doesn't
Jasmine remains AXL's founder. That doesn't change. What changes is who carries the day-to-day weight of direction, culture, and the hundred decisions a growing organization needs someone empowered to make. AXL had been operating for years without that role formally filled. Now it is.
